Gut Friendly Caffeine Alternative Iced Drink

How are you handing the heat? Perhaps it’s time for a cold drink? Are you a coffee drinker?

How does your body handle caffeine?

While some people may thrive on coffee, others may only enjoy it for the taste, and perhaps coffee doesn’t like them so much. Caffeine can cause digestive distress in some people. So if you are one of them, perhaps its time to switch to something else like chicory root or dandelion root. These roots have an oddly similar taste to coffee without the caffeine, but with prebiotics. Prebiotics encourage good bacteria to grow in your gut promoting better digestion, and better bowel movements. So go ahead and give this gut friendly Iced coffee alternative a try!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of ice

  • 2.5 cups of non dairy milk (more if its not blending easily enough)

  • 2 TBS of instant chicory root or dandelion root blend (or instant coffee if your body likes coffee, adjust to your liking)

  • A couple of dashes of maple syrup (to taste)

Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth and enjoy!
